PLAYTIME AT THE PLAYHOUSE!

Week long Musical Theater Camps with a culminating Mini-Musical (full-scale) production on the Main-Stage at the Jackson Hole Playhouse!

Join us this summer for an exciting round of musical theatre workshops!

Throughout the week, youth will be instructed in the fundamentals of acting, singing, and dancing from trained professionals that have performed on Broadway, Off-Broadway, and around the world.

At the end of the week, participants will put their skills to use as they perform a short musical theatre production, showcasing what they have learned during the week!

*Alternate holiday camp schedule (no camp 7-4, camp extended 7-5 through 7-9 from 9am-1:30pm)

Regular weekly workshops begin Wednesday afternoons (1:00pm – 3:00pm) and continues every morning 9:00-12:30-excluding Sunday, for one week. The performance of each show will be the last day- Wednesday at 11:00a.m. and all friends and family are invited to attend.

*Free lunch in the Saddle Rock Saloon for participants following the performance.

*Participants will have the opportunity to see our summer production of Footloose at the Playhouse for free (a $27.00 value).

A Deposit of $125 is required upon registration.

The remaining balance is due the Friday before the session begins.

Lunch at the Playhouse

For an additional $30 a week, participants can enjoy Lunch in the Saddle Rock Family Saloon after the workshop each day.

The meal includes one entree from the Youth Menu, a drink, and a rollicking good time with our singing waiters!

Meet our Staff

CODY WALKER (Producer) After many enjoyable summers in beautiful Jackson Hole, Cody is delighted to have been able to finally move to Jackson year-round beginning in 2011. Having first worked at the playhouse in 2002 as an actor, Cody is now the full-time General Manager at the Playhouse. He has been involved not only as an actor, but also as a producer and assistant director for multiple playhouse productions. He is also the Owner/Artistic Director of Triple Threat Performing Arts Academy and has been teaching youth in Teton County in Music (private voice), Dance, and Theater for the past two years. Cody was the choreographer/Assistant Music Director last year for Jackson Hole High School’s production of My Fair Lady. Cody’s favorite roles played here at the Playhouse include: Frank Butler in Annie Get Your Gun, Orin (the Dentist) in Little Shop of Horrors, and “Cody” in The Christmas Survival Kit. Cody has been performing professionally for 14 years and has performed in over 30 countries including Broadway National Tours and various regional theaters. This spring Cody will be playing the lead role of Don Lockwood in Singin’ in the Rain at the Merry-Go-Round Playhouse in New York. He holds a BFA in Music/Dance/Theater from BYU and is currently an MFA candidate for SDSU’s Musical Theater program. In 2008 Cody was director of the Chamberlain’s Performing and Fine Arts Academy based out of Los Angeles (winning Nickelodeon’s People’s Choice Award for Best Summer Day Camp in Los Angeles), involving hundreds of children performing large Broadway scale productions at Pepperdine University. He is excited to be involved with Playtime at the Playhouse for the third year, first directing the 2010 summer season. Cody loves working with and inspiring children through the arts and seeing them grow as they develop their own talents.

JULIA RICHARDSON (Director/Music Director) is playing the role of Cornelia this summer. She is currently studying Music/Dance/Theatre at Brigham Young University, and just returned from touring South Africa with the Young Ambassadors performing group. Her most recent roles include playing Irene in Hello Dolly, and Amber in Hairspray, and Elizabeth in Pride and Prejudice. She was the winner of Best Supporting Actress for her role as Dorothy Brock in 42nd Street by Seattle’s 5th Avenue Musical Theatre Awards. In earlier years she won State as an opera soloist for two consecutive years. Besides performing she also has a passion for teaching and directing. Julia has been teaching music for many years at a preschool in Seattle. She has also been teaching private voice to high school students for the past two years. Julia recently directed and choreographed a Christmas Broadway Review for Lone Peak High School in Alpine, UT. In the past two years she has directed and music directed productions of Pirates of Penzance and Disney’s Aida and Always, Patsy Cline. For fun she loves writing songs on her ukulele and hiking with her friends and is so thrilled for this opportunity to have fun with so many new kids at the playhouse this summer!

CAYEL TREGEAGLE (Choreographer) is from Orem UT, and is a Junior at BYU earning his BFA in Music Dance Theatre. In his earlier years he represented his high school by being Sterling Scholar in Dance, as well as being president of the dance company. He toured with BYU’s Contemporary Dance Theater to India in 2012, and recently returned from China touring with BYU’s Young Ambassadors. He teaches dance at Performing Arts Studio in Provo UT. His choreography took first place at the Utah Shakespearean Festival in 2011 and 2012, after taking first place in duo/trio scenes in 2010. Favorite roles include: Enjolras in Les Miserables, Dick in Dames at Sea, and Sky Masterson in Guys and Dolls. Cayel loves to teach and choreograph and is very excited for a great summer with Playtime at the Playhouse!

MARK R. JOHNSON (Assistant Music Director/Accompanist) a Jackson Hole regular and is excited to be back for his fifth show at the playhouse this summer.  He has a bachelor’s degree in Piano Performance and Pedagogy from BYU and attended the Eastman School of Music in Rochester, New York for Master’s study in Piano Performance and Literature.  He has music directed in many various settings, including children’s, community, collegiate, and professional theater.  Mark has also worked on a number of national touring productions of Broadway musicals. He  recently finished music directing White Christmas at BYU. Mark is happy to have his wife, Sally and daughter, Susanna joining him in Jackson this summer.
